1. The Sababurg was first mentioned as the Zappenburg in 1334 to protect pilgrims to the nearby pilgrimage site of Gottsbüren. Over time, the castle underwent transformations, with the hunting lodge of Zapfenburg emerging from the medieval castle site in 1490. After a period of decline, the site was restored and since 1959 it has housed an hotel.
