Kuwana Castle Ruins
Kuwana Castle Ruins are situated along the former Kii Railway line, near the town of Higashiomi in Mie Prefecture, Japan.
History
The construction period of Kuwana Castle is believed to date from the 16th century. The castle served as a fortified residence for the daimyo (feudal lord) of the region during the Sengoku period. After the unification of Japan under Tokugawa Ieyasu, the castle was renovated and expanded.

Kuwana Castle played a significant role in regional politics during the Edo period. In 1615, the castle was involved in the Siege of Osaka, where Tokugawa Ieyasu's forces defeated the rebel leader Ishida Mitsunari.

The Kuwana Castle Ruins are now a protected historical site and a popular tourist destination in Japan. The ruins have been preserved in their original state, with many of the original structures still intact.

Kuwana Castle Ruins were designated as a National Historic Site in 1951 by the Japanese government.
