History

  1. Construction of the Ozark Medieval Fortress began in June 2009, with the expectation that completion would take approximately 20 years.
  2. The project was inspired by Guédelon Castle in France, which is the first attempt to build a medieval castle using accurate construction methods.
  3. Two French citizens living in Arkansas offered to sell part of their land for the building of a similar fortification.
  4. Michel Guyot accepted, and construction began on the site.

The fortress opened to the public in May 2010, allowing visitors to observe the ongoing construction and interact with costumed workers. A collection of medieval siege weapons was also planned to be displayed starting in 2011.

  1. However, the project closed indefinitely in January 2012, requiring a buyer or investor.
